In the first edition in 1827, the author describes Ireland as "an unfashionable country to travel in" but in this second edition "smooth and convenient roads are perfected, comparatively comfortable hotels and modes of getting forward are at hand". Contents: Donegal (Lough Salt, Torry Island, Horn Head, Dow Castle, Muckish Mountain, Glen Veagh, St Columbkill, Mulroy Bay, Extensive account of Lough Derg and Pilgrimage to St. Patrick's Purgatory (which the author describes as "filthy, dreary and altogether detestable"), Lough Erne; Cape Clear, Bantry Bay, Gougane Barry- Glengariff; Killarney + Appendix (Extract from a MS History of the County of Kerry, in the Library of the Royal Irish Academy). Free front endpaper missing. Half-title missing. Some browning on title page and then mainly confined to one block of text near rear. Binding tight. All edges gilt. Attractively bound in decorative red cloth with gilt lettering and decoration on spine. Blindstamp decoration on boards. Cloth chipped away from top and bottom of spine. Corners bumped and rubbed. Overall condition Good+.
