Contents Vol I include: India : Geography, Geology, population, religion, cities, Ceylon, Government of British Indian Empire, Commerce of India, ancient India etc. Book III: Volume II - vi, 430 pp. Frontispiece & 5 other tissue guarded engravings. Book IV: Vol II pp445 - 774. Frontispiece & 33 other tissue guarded engraved plates. Contents Vol II - East India Company, Ostend Company, French enterprise in India, The navy at Bombay, Warren Hastings, various Indian wars, Lord Amherst, Affghan War, Sikh War, Persian War, etc. Previous owner's incription cut from feps of Book IV and Book I. Foxing on prelims, texts mainly clean except for spots of foxing in vicinity of plates but plates mostly clean. All four books bound in full tan leather. Spine labels missing from all four volumes but spine label of Book I only between endpapers. Binding sound in all four books. Decorative tooling around margins of boards and edges of boards. Spines rubbed at top and bottom and all corners rubbed. Spines faded. Book IV - bottom rear edge of spine split for c. 2 inches. Overall condition VG. |
