Hinges cracked. Overall condition Good. Volume III ( 1843) vi, iv, 568 pp. 14 steel engraved plates (one plate missing). Foxing confined mainly to margins of plates, but occasional spots in text. Hinges partially cracked. Overall condition VG-. Volume IV (1843) 562 pp. 13 steel engraved plates. Contents include: Modern Chivalry or, A New Orlanda Furioso, The Elliston Papers, John Manesty. Foxing mainly confined to margins of plates but occasional spots in text. Overall condition VG-. Volume V (1844). ii, 560 pp. Frontispiece - engraving of William Harrison Ainsworth, & 11 other steel engraved plates. Foxing confined mainly to plate margins but occasional spots in text. Hinges partially cracked. Overall condition VG-. Volume VI (1884). 562 pp. 9 steel engraved plates. Contents include Saint James, Revelations of London etc. etc. Foxing mainly confined to plate margins but occasional spots in text. Front hinge cracked at title page - some seperation of binding. Surface of spine rubbed in places. Overall condition VG-. All six volumes bound in matching quarter brown leather with brown marbled boards. Ornate spines with maroon double spine labels. Four raised bands on spines seperating gilt ornate decorative panels. Lower spine label (vol number) missing from volumes V and VI. Top, bottoms and edges of spines rubbed. Edges and corners of boards rubbed. Overall condition VG-. A heavy set, extra shipping required. |
